I think that all children have the potential to be amazing. The challenge seems to be in us adults giving them the opportunity to find this amazingness inside them.

We can do this in many ways:

  • Accepting children as they are.
  • Encouraging children to explore anything and everything they have an interest in.
  • Never telling a child you think something is stupid, a waste of time, out of their reach.
  • Asking more questions and giving less lectures.
  • Trusting that they often know what’s best for themselves, regardless of how you feel about their opinions of what’s best for them.
  • Giving them enough time and space to explore life.
  • Telling their teachers you won’t be participating in standardized testing because your child doesn’t fit into any standard that you’re aware of.
  • Instilling a curiosity in your child that will keep them learning for life.
  • Helping your child learn that there are no mistakes, just different ways of doing things. Some of those things lead to results you like, some don’t. Mistakes are how most of us learned our best lessons.

Here’s a wonderful video of a budding musician who has had time to explore the musical side of himself. How grand. Enjoy…
