We are going to Washington D.C.! The Consumer Federation of America is doing a campaign called America Saves. It is a grassroots effort designed to encourage people to save. According to the CFA, the average savings rate in the U.S. is .6% (down from 12% from 25 years ago), worldwide it is 20% and in China it is 40%. Over the next 20 years it is their goal to do a social paradigm shift and get people to commit to saving money and to do it on a regular basis. The campaign also encourages financial institutions to offer no fee, no minimum financial products to encourage individuals to save. If you have ever attended one of our camps you know that we provide the motivation to save. Now we will be able to direct you to those institutions that can help you get started. We have invited Congresswoman Lois Capps to support these efforts with us, feel free to write her office to let her know that you support this cause. Phone 202-225-3601.

Looking forward to sharing with you what we find out from the National Savings Forum on February 15th in Washington D.C.!
